What We Believe

The following are the core beliefs of Rainier View Christian Church based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

About God

We believe in one God who exists in three distinct persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We believe that God is perfect in love, power, holiness, goodness, knowledge, wisdom, justice, and remains the same yesterday, today and forever. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who became man to reveal God to humanity and to become the Savior of the lost.

About Humanity

We believe that all people were created in the image of God to have fellowship with Him but became divided in that relationship through sinful disobedience. When Adam and Eve chose not to obey God, they became distorted images of God which caused them to fall out of fellowship with Him. As a result, people are incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through their own efforts.

About Salvation

We believe that Jesus Christ came to restore our relationship with God, that He lived a perfect life and willingly died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sin, and that God raised Him from the dead conquering death. We believe that Jesus Christ’s blood shed on the cross provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of sin. Therefore, God freely offers salvation to those who place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their own sin.

About the Scriptures

We believe the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God and that men were moved by the Spirit of God to write the very words of Scripture. Therefore, we believe the Bible is without error is the foundation for correcting, teaching, guiding and training.

About the Church

We believe that the church is the visible body of Christ, of which Jesus Christ is the head. The members of the church are those who have trusted by faith the finished work of Christ. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving Him and by making him known to the lost world.

About the Christian Life

We believe all Christians should live for Christ and not for themselves. By obedience to the Word of God and daily yielding to the Spirit of God, every believer should mature and be conformed to the image of Christ.

About Baptism

We believe those who have decided to follow Christ should make a public confession of faith and be baptized, following in the steps of Jesus. We believe that water baptism by immersion is an outward sign of an inward work and is commanded by God following conversion. It is a symbol of Christ’s burial and resurrection that identifies believers with Him.
